Elham Rahmati (s.1989 Tehran) is a Visual artist, currently studying Visual Culture and Contemporary Art at Aalto University in Helsinki, Finland. She has a background in Fine Arts and has been working both as an artist and activist with political and social issues within the political climate of Iran, focusing mainly on gender identity issues and the role of artistic and cultural practices in the hegemonic struggle in conflictual spaces which is visible in her paintings, drawings and photographs. At the moment her focus has shifted towards transdisciplinary research based practices which aim to pose a question on the relationship between agency and archive and their relation to history seen from fragments that can change our understanding of it.
